Collaborative Leadership is an increasingly vital source of competitive advantages in today's team-based and partnership-oriented business environment. Our panelists will describe key practices of collaborative leadership and identify critical competencies.

NOTE: The 2022 Mentorship program is open to all Property Managers, Assistant Property Managers, and Tenant Coordinators. Past mentees are invited. Please note: mentees are allowed to participate in the Mentorship program more than once.

Meet Our Panelists

Lloyd Berry, Managing Director
Asset and Property Management Services
Colliers International. 

As Managing Director, Lloyd is responsible for the Chicago management portfolio of over 51 million square feet of office, industrial, medical office and retail properties in the Chicago metropolitan area. He is focused on client account management, strategic planning (corporate and client-focused), execution and coordination of all client services including management, construction ($90M annually) and engineering services. He is responsible for the recruitment, training, and management of over 187 Colliers professionals serving over 60 clients in the Chicago area. Throughout his career, he has been involved in acquisitions/sales of over $600M of property, has negotiated over 350 lease transactions and coordinated significant property repositioning for his clients.

Lloyd has been active in many industry groups including BOMA Chicago and BOMA Suburban Chicago, CCIM (Past Illinois Chapter President), Magnificent Mile Association, and the University of Illinois where he is an instructor.

 

Carolina Avila
Senior Property Manager
Duke Realty

As a Senior Property Manager for Duke Realty, Carolina is responsible for a multi-site portfolio of 8.5 million square feet of industrial assets in the Chicago metro area with a focus on building management, client relationships and managing financial objectives. Her duties include seeking ways to maintain properties at a high level while reducing costs to maximize value at all times, by preparing annual budgets, competitively bidding projects and analyzing variances and recoveries. 

Prior to joining Duke in 2017, Carolina worked as a property manager for Mid-America Asset Management where she managed retail and mixed-used properties for both institutional and entrepreneur clients. She holds an MBA with a concentration in real estate from Roosevelt University where she was a Goldie Initiative Alumni. Carolina is a Regional Inclusion Associate for the Duke Realty Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, a member of the Career Development Committee for the Goldie Initiative and on sits on the board for IWIRE.

 

Lisa Krumwiede
Director of Asset Management
ML Realty Partners

Lisa oversees the asset management function at ML Realty Partners. As Director, Lisa provides leadership both internally and externally with outside property management teams to optimize asset operations and value.

Lisa has over 20 years of in-depth industrial real estate experience working in both the third-party market as well as direct ownership. She was previously Director of Property Management of the Midwest Region at Liberty Property Trust and worked at Prologis, CBRE and JLL before joining ML Realty Partners. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Illinois State University. Lisa is also a LEED Green Associate, Licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker and is Chair of the BOMA/ Suburban Chicago Industrial Committee. She is currently a member of CREW and the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).

 

Kristi Rankin
Associate Managing Director
CBRE Property Management

Kristi is the Associate Managing Director for CBRE Property Management in the Chicago Market, comprised of 79.5 million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties. Collaborating with the Managing Director, she oversees a growing portfolio and supports 300+ local professionals. Kristi's role centers on developing and executing initiatives in areas of employee engagement, talent acquisition, business development and financials. She has direct oversight of day-to-day operations, leading local property management teams to develop efficiencies and streamline service delivery across the portfolio.

Prior to joining CBRE in 2020, Kristi served as Chief Operating Officer for IRC Retail Centers (formerly Inland Real Estate Corporation). In this role, she served as member of the company's executive management committee, overseeing property management, construction management, operations, risk management, legal, information technology and Human Resources for a portfolio of open-air shopping centers comprising of more than 18 million square feet of leasable space. Kristi began her 30 years of experience at IRC Retail in various property management roles including serving as Director of Property Management prior to her promotion to COO in 2017.

Lindy Schrik
Director of ESG
CenterPoint Properties

Lindy leads CenterPoint Properties' Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategic initiatives and sustainability efforts. Lindy has served the real estate industry for over 20 years as a Real Estate Tax Associate, Design Coordinator, Property Manager and now Director of ESG at CenterPoint Properties. Lindy has held her IL Managing Broker's License since 2004, acquired her LEED AP in 2010 and has LEED certified several buildings throughout the US. Lindy is an accounting graduate at the University of IL-Champaign/Urbana and has been on the BOMA/Suburban Chicago Board of Directors since 2020 and the BOMA International Industrial Committee since 2018.


Fees:
 BOMA regular members can attend this event for $40. Individuals at the Property Assistant level can attend this event for a special Emerging Leaders discounted rate of $20. Non-member property professionals can attend for $50. The Associate Member registration fee is $100.

*Only One Representative from a Member Associate Company is allowed to attend.

Register: Registration will close at noon on Friday, March 25. Appetizers and adult beverages will be included.

Cancellations: Must be received within 24 hours in advance of the event to receive a refund.
